Torn meniscus

Torn meniscus

When we put diagnose “Torn Meniscus”, the operation must be done as quickly as possible.
We start the postoperative rehabilitation on 2nd-3rd postoperative day. It includes electrostimulation of the quadriceps femoris muscle, ultrasound of the knee, interference current, magnetic therapy, laser therapy, trophic massage on operated lower limb and physiotherapy. It begins with exercises in the supine position (active and passive, isometric and isotonic, with and without weights) aiming strengthening of the quadriceps femoris muscle and increasing the range of motion in the operated knee. The rehabilitation is performed in the gym (on the Swedish wall, exercises with elastic bands, a chair with and without weights, an exercise bike, cross-trainer, treadmill, balancer and ball training for the proprioception). After removing the stitches on 10th-12th postoperative day patients continue self training (in the gym or at home).
